Grab My Scrap is operated in the United Kingdom by its founder.

Grab My Scrap provides a free online platform that allows users to:

• Post details of scrap items available for free collection.
• Allow licensed scrap collectors to find and collect those items.

No fees or payments are to be exchanged between users or collectors. All scrap exchanges must remain completely free of charge.

2. Eligibility

You must:

• Be at least 18 years old.
• Be resident in the United Kingdom.
• Provide accurate and truthful information during registration.
• Agree that scrap collectors must hold a valid scrap collection licence and acknowledge this truthfully when signing up.

3. User Responsibilities

You agree that you will:

• Use the Website lawfully and only for its intended purpose.
• Not post misleading, illegal, or inappropriate content.
• Not use the Website to advertise paid services or solicit payment.
• Not impersonate others or falsify information.
• Not attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the system.

You are solely responsible for any content (text, photos, or listings) you upload. You retain ownership of your photos but grant us a temporary licence to display them until the related post is completed or deleted.

4. Account Security

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and all activities that occur under your account.

• Password Security: You must keep your password secure and confidential. Choose a strong, unique password and do not share it with anyone.
• Unauthorised Access: You must notify us immediately at support@grabmyscrap.co.uk if you suspect or become aware of any unauthorised access to your account or any security breach.
• No Account Sharing: You may not share your account credentials with others or allow anyone else to access your account. Each user must maintain their own individual account.
• Your Responsibility: You are solely responsible for all activity that occurs under your account, whether authorized by you or not.

We will not be liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to maintain account security. If we have reason to believe your account has been compromised, we may suspend it temporarily until the security issue is resolved.

5. User Conduct and Prohibited Behaviour

All users must maintain respectful and professional conduct when using the Website. The following behaviours are strictly prohibited:

• Harassment, Threats, or Intimidation: Any form of threatening, abusive, or intimidating behaviour towards other users, including repeated unwanted contact.

6. Listing Accuracy and Content Standards

All users posting scrap items must ensure:

• Descriptions are accurate, truthful, and complete.
• Items are genuinely available for collection at the time of posting.
• Quantity and condition information is honest and not misleading.
• Items remain available until the post is marked complete or deleted.
• Address and contact information provided is correct.

Deliberately posting false, misleading, or fraudulent listings is a serious violation of these Terms and may result in immediate account termination.

7. Prohibited Items

The following items must NOT be posted on the Website:

• Hazardous Materials: Asbestos, chemicals, radioactive materials, toxic substances, or any materials requiring specialist handling or disposal.
• Medical/Biological Waste: Medical equipment, sharps, bodily fluids, or any biohazardous materials.
• Weapons and Explosives: Firearms, ammunition, explosives, or any items designed to cause harm.
• Stolen Property: Any items that are not legally yours to dispose of.
• Restricted Materials: Items requiring special disposal licences or permits under UK law.

Posting prohibited items may result in immediate account suspension or termination, and we may report such activity to relevant authorities.

8. Photo and Content Guidelines

All photos and content you upload must comply with the following:

• Appropriate Content: No inappropriate, offensive, explicit, discriminatory, or adult content.
• Accurate Representation: Photos must accurately show the actual scrap items being offered.
• Privacy Protection: No photos containing identifiable people without their consent.
• No Personal Information: Remove or obscure any visible personal information such as documents, mail with addresses, bank statements, or identification.
• Your Own Content: You must own or have permission to use all photos you upload.
• Quality Standards: Photos should be clear enough to identify the items.

We reserve the right to remove any photos or content that violate these guidelines without notice.

9. Analytics and Data Collection

By using the Website, you acknowledge and consent to:

Scrap collectors must confirm that they hold a valid scrap collection licence. Grab My Scrap operates on an honesty basis and does not verify licences.

We accept no liability for any false claims by users regarding their licensing status.

11. Scrap Collector Responsibilities

Scrap collectors who use the Website to collect scrap items agree that they will:

• Dispose of, recycle, or offload all collected scrap in a responsible and professional manner.
• Comply with all applicable UK laws and regulations regarding waste management, recycling, and scrap metal dealing.
• Ensure collected materials are processed at authorised facilities or through legitimate channels.
• Not engage in illegal dumping, improper disposal, or any environmentally harmful practices.

Failure to properly and responsibly handle collected scrap constitutes a breach of these Terms and may result in account termination. Grab My Scrap expects all collectors to maintain professional standards and uphold environmental responsibilities.

12. Safety Guidelines

For your safety, we strongly recommend that all users follow these guidelines when arranging and conducting pickups:

• Meet Safely: Where possible, arrange pickups during daylight hours.
• Have Someone Present: Consider having another person present during the pickup.
• Limit Personal Information: Only share the contact details and address information necessary for the pickup.
• Trust Your Instincts: If something feels wrong or unsafe, cancel the arrangement.
• Clear Access: Ensure clear, safe access to items to prevent injury during collection.
• Communicate Changes: Inform the other party promptly if plans change or items are no longer available.
• Verify Identity: Consider verifying the identity of collectors, especially for larger or valuable items.

These are recommendations only. You are solely responsible for your own safety. Grab My Scrap accepts no liability for any incidents, injuries, or losses that occur during pickups or user interactions.

13. Cancellation and No-Show Policy

To maintain reliability and trust within the community, users must honor their commitments or communicate changes in a timely manner.

Post Removal/Cancellation

• 24-Hour Restriction: Once a pickup has been arranged, the Website will prevent you from removing or cancelling the post if there is less than 24 hours before the scheduled pickup time.
• Items Must Remain Available: If a pickup is scheduled, the poster must ensure the items remain available until the scheduled time or proper cancellation notice is given.
• Making Items Unavailable: If you make items unavailable or refuse to honor a scheduled pickup, this will be treated as a no-show.

No-Show Consequences

If either party fails to appear for a scheduled pickup without proper notice:

• Automatic 1-Star Rating: The user who fails to show up (whether poster or collector) will automatically receive a 1-star rating on their account.
• Impact on Reputation: Ratings are visible to other users and affect your standing on the platform.
• Repeated No-Shows: Multiple no-shows may result in account warnings, suspension, or termination.

Expected Communication

Both posters and collectors are expected to:

• Communicate promptly if plans change or delays occur.
• Provide at least 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule.
• Respond to messages in a reasonable timeframe leading up to the pickup.
• Contact the other party immediately if you cannot make the scheduled time.

Clear, timely communication helps maintain a positive experience for all users and avoids unnecessary no-show ratings.

Disputes

If you believe you received a no-show rating in error (e.g., due to emergency circumstances or miscommunication), you may contact us at support@grabmyscrap.co.uk to request a review. We will consider each case individually, but ratings will only be removed in exceptional circumstances with supporting evidence.

14. No Payments or Fees

Grab My Scrap is a free service. Users and collectors must not charge, offer, or request payment of any kind. Any such activity constitutes a breach of these Terms and may result in account termination.

15. Warranty Disclaimers

THE WEBSITE AND SERVICE ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, including but not limited to:

• Availability and Reliability: We do not warrant that the Website will be available at all times, uninterrupted, error-free, or free from viruses or other harmful components. The Website may experience downtime, technical issues, or maintenance periods.
• Accuracy: We make no warranties about the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any content on the Website, including user-generated content.
• Fitness for Purpose: We do not warrant that the Website will meet your specific requirements or expectations.
• Finding Matches: We do not guarantee that posters will find scrap collectors, or that collectors will find suitable scrap items. Success in using the platform depends on many factors outside our control.
• User Conduct: We make no warranties regarding the conduct, reliability, or identity of any users on the platform.

You use the Website entirely at your own risk. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Website at any time without notice.

16. Liability Disclaimer

Grab My Scrap only facilitates introductions between users.

We do not:

• Verify or guarantee the identity or reliability of users.
• Participate in, or take responsibility for, scrap pickups or transactions.
• Accept any liability for loss, damage, injury, or disputes arising from interactions between users.

All pickups and communications occur at your own risk.

17. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability to you for any and all claims arising from or related to these Terms or your use of the Website shall not exceed one hundred pounds (£100).

This limitation applies regardless of the legal theory upon which your claim is based (whether contract, tort, negligence, strict liability, or otherwise) and regardless of whether we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of liability for consequential or incidental damages, so the above limitation may not apply to you in full. In such cases, our liability will be limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

18. Account Suspension and Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or delete any account, without notice, if:

• You violate these Terms.
• You provide false or misleading information.
• We are required to do so by law enforcement or government authorities.

Users can delete their own accounts at any time if they have no active posts or pickups.

19. Intellectual Property

All content and branding on this Website (excluding user content) are owned by or licensed to Grab My Scrap and may not be reproduced without permission.

20. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Grab My Scrap, its founder, and any affiliates from claims, damages, or expenses resulting from your use of the Website or violation of these Terms.

21. Changes to the Service or Terms

We may modify or discontinue the Website, or update these Terms, at any time.

If we make material changes to these Terms, we will notify you by sending an email to the address associated with your account and/or by posting a prominent notice on the Website at least 7 days before the changes take effect. For non-material changes, the updated Terms will be posted on the Website with the "Last Updated" date revised.

Your continued use of the Website after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the changes, you must stop using the Website and may delete your account.

22. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the UK courts.

23. General Legal Terms

Severability

Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Grab My Scrap regarding your use of the Website. They supersede all prior or contemporaneous agreements, understandings, representations, and communications, whether written or oral, relating to the subject matter hereof.

Assignment

We may transfer, assign, or delegate these Terms and our rights and obligations hereunder at any time, including in connection with a merger, acquisition, sale of assets, or by operation of law, without your consent or prior notice to you. You may not assign or transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms without our prior written consent. Any attempted assignment in violation of this provision will be null and void.

Waiver

Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms, or to exercise any right or remedy available to us, will not constitute a waiver of that provision, right, or remedy, nor will it prevent us from enforcing that provision, right, or remedy in the future. No waiver will be effective unless made in writing and signed by an authorized representative of Grab My Scrap. Any waiver of a particular provision will not be deemed a waiver of any other provision or of the same provision on a different occasion.
